On 4th July 2013, fulfilled, one of the prestigious dream of Electrical and Electronics Engineering department at Amritapuri campus, to organize a three day national conference on “Technological Advancements in Power & Energy”, TAP Energy 2013 with the theme “Technologies to Power the Future”. In its first edition itself, the national level conference was well appreciated for its international quality, presence of eminent speakers spanning the theme of conference and for its well organised technical & tutorial sessions. The main objective of
the conference was to provide a platform for the professionals in academia and industry to exchange latest technologies and developments in the area of power and energy. The conference as expected helped the delegates to share their innovations and ideas to accelerate the development of research activities in this area through discussions and deliberations. It is understood that tapping the available renewable energy resources, and its efficient management and utilization, is indeed the need of the hour and hence the conference was well received.
The first edition was Co-sponsored by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE), Energy Management Centre (EMC), Department of Power, Kerala and IEEE Industrial Electronics/Industry Applications/ Power Electronics Joint Chapter, Kerala Section.
There were 9 invited talks by experts in the fields of Power and Energy from reputed institutions and organizations like IISc. Bangalore, NIT, KSEB etc. spanning these three days. The Pre-Conference tutorials on most relevant topics like “Energy Management considerations in Industrial load control” and “Maintaining Power Quality – Challenges and Solutions” were a real experience to the attendees. There were seven contributory paper sessions (parallel sessions), in two days. Well reviewed 30+ papers of high technical quality were presented by the authors form all over the country.
